For example, if I were to make a video, but then I put copyrighted music with the video, and I posted that content on youtube, could I get sued by the youtube company?

not by youtube but if the artist doesn’t approve or like it then yea could maybe sue you=]

No, but you can be sued by the artist themselves.
Depends on how you do it. You really should talk with a lawyer that’s knowledgable on copyright laws.

not by youtube…you would be sued by the party who held the copyright for the music
