If I Download A Foreign Film Is It Protected By The Copyright Law Of The Uk Or The Country Of Origin?

If, for example, I wanted to download an Afghan film (as it’s easier to demonstrate the point as no copyright law exists there), would that be legal in the UK where the copyright length is 70 years after death. Or are there other factors involved such as distribution rights?

How Do I Obtain Music Copyright Permission In Order To Show My Film In A Film Festival?

July 8th, 2009 at 10:26pm Under music copyright

I’m a high school student and my film was chosen to be put in the AFI Dallas film festival. The only problem is I need to get permission from the people who hold the copyrights to the music I used. I have some Janis Joplin, some Beatles, some Yann Tiersen (the person who scored the movie Amélie), and maybe a few others.
I don’t even know where to start!
