If I Record A Video Of Me Playing Runescape And Post It Online, Am I Violating A Copyright Law?

July 16th, 2009 at 04:27pm Under copyright law

I was playing Runescape and I found that a macroer was abusing a bug in Jagex’s system to get lots of genie random events. I shot a video of it with Hypercam2 and I put it on google video so I could chow people and find out what was going on with this guy. I just recieved an email today that says the video has been taken down because it is a copyright violation. I did not add music or anything. I only shot the video, and put it online without adding or taking anything away from it. Can I file a complaint to google about this or is it against copyright law to make a video of runescape without Jagex’s permission? I have dozens of other Runescape videos online but none of them have been taken down for copyright law. I am very confused and wish someone could enlighten me about this. Thank you.

If I Purchase A Copyrighted Item And Sell It Later Am I Violating Copyright Law?

July 12th, 2009 at 04:24pm Under copyright law

As an example, I am a private citizen and I buy a new book. Supposedly (and to the best of my knowledge) the bookseller pays a royalty to the copyright owner. Later I sell the book to another private citizen. Does that put me in violation of copyright laws? What if I give the book to a friend (or even purchase the book as a gift)? Finally, what if I sell it to a used book dealer?

Can I Use The Pattern On My Scarf As The Background Of My Website Without Violating Copyright Laws?

July 11th, 2009 at 10:29pm Under website copyright

I want to use the pattern of my scarf as the background on my personal website. The scarf is by Design and I bought it at H&M. No where on the fabric or tags does it have a copyright symbol. If I credit Design on my website, can I use the pattern?
Thank you!
