As I’m sure many of you are aware, apple are going to stop putting copyright protection on music bought through the itunes store.
Do you think they’ll also make it possible to remove the copyright protection from tracks bought from them previously?

I am putting together a 1 minute video montage for a client of mine and she suggest perhaps putting a Duke Ellington song to it. I want to make sure I do this right as it may be used for a promotional video. Am I violating any copyright laws if do this even though he is passed away. Is their a website that explains copyright laws when it comes to music and that is easy to understand? I see video mixes all over youtube that have new songs put to them and I highly doubt they have permission. Thanks.

What is the law in Australia for copying content that is copyrighted under this act: Part VB of the Copyright Act 1968 (the Act)
Can you do it? Can you base your work on that content to reproduce your own?

My friend recently was emailed by Comcast which said: Notice of Action under the Digital Millenium Copyright Act…..ABuse number: —
Dear comcast highspeed internet subscriber:
Comcast has received a notification by a copyright owner reporting an alleged infringment of one or more copyrighted works made on or over comcasts highspeed internet service. The works copyrighted by the copyright owner are: ………. comcast reminds you that the use of the service in any manner that constitutes an infringement of any copyrighted work is a violation of comcasts acceptable use policy and may result in termination of your service account.
This is only a notice from comcast saying that some copyright owner has contacted comcast…so he hasnt her from the copyright owner yet. What do you think will happen to him? Sued? just a warning?

I want to create clothing that makes use of MLB trademarks and logos. Even if I sell it at zero profit — just because I’d like to see the product out there in the marketplace — is that allowed?
ALSO: How can someone eBay a pro sports jersey and not violate trademark law?

If the patent on it exist then the answer is yes. Here is a link for you http://www.uspto.gov/patft/index.html
P.S. Patents are broken all the time, it’s the patent owner’s responsibility to take you to Court. Example: blackberry.

I’m thinking of light classical music which is still in copyright & film or show tunes, not necessarily the latest hits. Arrangements for performance, not further publication.
